The mainstream view of women in the Bible is that they were disregarded and treated horribly. And yet as we read our Bibles we see many instances of women who made a difference for themselves and others both in the old an new testaments. Strong women that were valued and loved by God.
Now Rahab had heard about the God of the Jewish people and she saw what happened when you fought them. She believed that their God was the real God and chose to hide the spies, she even made a deal with them to save her and her entire family.
Rahab was smart everyone had the fear of them, but I wonder if she was the only one who sought to make peace with them and to accept their God as her own, apparently so.
Abigail was beautiful and intelligent, she was married to a man named Nabal. He was mean and rude and not very bright. Nabal was a man of means and David helped and protected his men in the fields.
When David sent men with a message of friendship and a request for some provisions Nabal was rude and refused. David was set to go and destroy him and all of the men in his household, but Abigail sprung into action.

Bible Stories Lazarus, Martha & Mary
Now Martha and Mary invited Jesus into their home. He became their friend and Savoir.
With two very different personalities these Bible women are a great example to many women today.
Martha was a doer and Mary a listener. Mary was willing to sit at her teachers feet learning while Martha ran around trying to prepare the meal. Martha asked Jesus to tell Mary to help her.
Luke 10: 41-42 (NASB)
41.) But the Lord answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things;
42.) but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her."
I find that I can relate to both of these women. Sometimes I run around stressing out and other times I am willing to be still and listen.
Now when Jesus heard that Lazarus was dying he tarried for four days. When he finally arrived Lazarus had been dead for four days. When he saw Mary’s grief he mourned with her. Jesus wept, seeing her pain moved him to tears even though he knew he would raise Lazarus from the dead.
He loves us so much that he hurts when we hurt, there are many examples of Gods love and compassion for men and women throughout the Old and New Testaments of the Bible.

With her fresh approach to the familiar Bible story, Joanna Weaver shows how all of us–Marys and Marthas alike–can draw closer to our Lord: deepening our devotion, strengthening our service, and doing both with less stress and greater joy.

Ruth, Esther & Deborah Bible Women
There are plenty of interesting, fascinating Bible stories about women. In my opinion God used women in many wonderful ways throughout the Old and New Testaments.
There are many examples of women in the Bible making an impact in the world.
Ruth chose to stay with her mother- in- law Naomi after all of the men in the household died.
She left her own land and went with Naomi to her homeland and accepted Naomi's God as her God.
She did what she felt was right and was rewarded for it.
Now Esther was beautiful inside and out the King chose her out of many to be his Queen.
She risked her own life for her people and remained strong and calm.
She did what she had to do to allow God to bring about justice for a whole nation.
Deborah was a Judge and Prophetess who helped lead an army to victory with a little help from Jael and was a judge to the Jewish people.
